Hi!  I'm a new member here and just wanted to introduce myself.  I both live and work in the square.  I'm the owner of Bodytonic Pilates, a small pilates studio on Yesler.

Thanks to whomever started this!

Here are some photos I've taken from my loft over the past 24 hours.  The snow is crazy and daunting, but beautiful!

I just walked out of our building to salt the sidewalks again and I noticed a guy laying on the ground bleeding from the head at the bus stop across the street. Some people were trying to take care of him by throwing a coat over his torso to keep him warm. Another guy was on a cell phone. I ran across the street and asked the guy if he was talking to 911 and he nodded 'yes'. Since it is cold out I noticed that the victim was breathing. I decided to not try to help any further.

About a minute later a couple police cars arrived. Bystanders pointed in the direction of an attacker(?) and the cops ran after him. He was standing at the end of the block and didn't run when approached. He was handcuffed and brought back to the scene.

A couple minutes later an ambulace came and they started treating the victim, eventually clearing the blood from his face and wrapping his head in a bandage. It took them some time to get the guy up on the gurney.

Excitement. :(

Owner of the Saveway market who everyone refers to as Mama Son was attacked around 11:00pm last night while working behind the counter. The attacker was described as a black male, homeless and apparently on drugs. During the scuffle a couple men tried to subdue the man but he managed to destroy both registers and make a large mess of the checkout area. The Saveway market is closed today to clean up the damage but should be back up and running by tomorrow. The suspect is thought to be new to the area and has not yet been caught.

Is there a certain city crew that goes around to fix things like these banners or can anyone get up on a ladder and flip them around so that they hang properly? Aren't they supposed to be weighted or secured on the bottom to prevent being flipped around by the wind?

It would be nice to see these hanging correctly. I think it would give the neighborhood a less "neglected" look.
